Cleaning carpet stains

| April 7th, 2008

For cleaning stains on a carpet the following can be used:

1. Carpet stain remover

2. Oxistrength – available at the dollar store, cheap stain remover, pink in color

3. Liquid laundry soap – should be diluted a little

4. Borax can be used a stain cleaner and odor remover but is not detergent based. Make a paste of borax and water, agitate into the stain, allow to dry and vacuum up. If the carpet smells, sprinkle dry borax on it, allowed to sit for some time, and then vacuum it up to eliminate odors.

5. For a stain caused by grease , use baking powder with a small drop of warm water. Leave for 10 minutes or so, then wipe with a sponge and cold water

6.50/50 mixture of vinegar/water works , it is a lot cheaper than the commercial stain removers and once it dries it has no odor.

7. A common fabric detergent – Woolite can be used. It is very mild, and only a small amount has to be diluted in warm water, it works well on many stains involving dirt/grease and light soiling
